- June 11th is Family Health and Fitness Day. Enjoy the great outdoors! Go for a hike, swim, or bike ride. All are great ways to get exercise, and help reduce stress.
- June is Cataract Awareness Month. Protecting your eyes from sun is as important as your skin. Sunglasses are the best fashion accessory for the summer!
- June is Men’s Health Month. The number one cause of death in men is heart disease. To lower your risk of heart disease: 1. control your blood pressure – check it regularly (at least once a month), 2. keep your cholesterol under control – know your numbers, 3. stay at a healthy weight, 4. Eat a diet low in fats, high in vegetables and whole grains, 5. aim for 150 minutes of moderately vigorous activity each week, 6. get enough sleep – try for 7-9 hours of sleep each night.
- June is National Migraine and Headache Awareness Month. Avoid headache triggers. Don’t know what yours are? Try keeping a headache diary. Avoid medication overuse, get enough sleep, don’t skip meals, exercise regularly, and reduce stress and caffeine.
